ATW New YorkNEW YORK: New York Metropolis authorities have raised sections of a once-famous but long-forgotten boat from the underside of North Cove alongside the Harlem River. They consider the salvaged items belong to PT-59, which John F. Kennedy captained in World Struggle II after his earlier boat, PT-109, was rammed by a Japanese destroyer. In 1943, each Kennedy and PT-59 helped rescue a number of endangered Marines from Choiseul Island within the Solomon Islands. The boat was transferred to personal possession after the warfare and finally sank within the 1970s.
