Turkish fishermen casting nets exterior Turkish territorial waters off the coast of the port metropolis of Marmaris in southwestern Turkey made the catch of a lifetime. At daybreak, once they started to reel within the nets they’d thrown at a depth of 50 metres, they have been stunned to see a big statue rising from the ocean.

The fishermen knowledgeable the Turkish coast guard which in flip knowledgeable the Marmaris Museum Directorate and archaeologists have been dispatched to look at the statue.
It turned out to be a feminine bronze statue about two metres tall and weighing 300 kilograms. The statue, which has not but been dated, was positioned in a car with a crane and transferred to the Marmaris Museum for additional examination and conservation.
The archaeologists didn’t present extra info on the matter, and referred to the official statements that will likely be made by the Ministry after the investigations.
